How to Get Lots of Leather Fast in Palworld
Buy Leather in bulk, farm Direhowl with Katress, or assign Surfent to a Ranch for a steady passive supply.
The fastest way to get a large amount of Leather is to buy it from a settlement merchant. If you would rather save Gold, farm Direhowl near the Bridge of the Twin Knights with Katress in your active party. A Surfent assigned to a Ranch provides a slower, passive supply for an established base.
Buy Leather for 150 Gold
Ordinary Wandering Merchants in settlements sell Leather for 150 Gold each. The merchant at the Small Settlement is an easy early-game option: fast-travel there, enter the settlement, and check the merchant's material inventory. Buying is the best method when you need a known quantity immediately for armor, saddles, or Pal Gear.
Gold is the only practical limit, so sell spare valuables or excess materials before making a large purchase. Do not look for Leather at a Black Marketeer; Black Marketeers trade Pals rather than ordinary crafting materials.
Farm Direhowl at the Bridge of the Twin Knights
For a repeatable early-game route, fast-travel to the Bridge of the Twin Knights and hunt Direhowl across the nearby open ground. Direhowl is a low-level Neutral Pal that can drop Leather, and the area's short sightlines make targets easy to spot. Clear the route, collect every drop, then repeat it after the Pals respawn.
Capture Direhowl instead of defeating it when you still need capture-count rewards. Both approaches can provide its normal material drops, but capturing also costs Pal Spheres, so defeat targets when Leather per resource spent is your only concern.
Bring Katress for more Direhowl drops
Katress's partner skill increases the items dropped by Neutral Pals while Katress is fighting with you. Direhowl is Neutral, so the combination improves this specific farming route. Keep Katress summoned when a Direhowl is defeated; simply owning one or leaving it at the base does not apply the combat bonus.
The bonus is element-specific. Katress does not increase Leather from every possible target, so use it on Direhowl and other Neutral Leather-dropping Pals rather than assuming it works on Foxparks, Fuack, or Rushoar.
Hunt other easy Leather-dropping Pals
Foxparks, Fuack, and Rushoar are common alternatives around early areas. They are useful when you have not unlocked the Bridge of the Twin Knights or want to gather Leather while exploring. Choose the densest route near an unlocked fast-travel point instead of crossing the map for a single species.
Many more Pals can drop Leather later in the game, but easy targets usually give better returns when travel time, ammunition, and healing are included.
Produce Leather at a Ranch with Surfent
Surfent can sometimes drop Leather when assigned to a Ranch. This method takes longer to start than buying or hunting, but it keeps producing while you craft, explore, or run other farms. Place storage close to the Ranch and keep a transporter available so finished Leather does not remain on the ground.
Use Ranch production as background income rather than an emergency source. Buy Leather when a recipe is blocking you now; use Surfent when you want the stockpile to grow between crafting sessions.
Choose the best method for your stage
Buy Leather when Gold is easy to replace and time matters most. Farm Direhowl with Katress when you want Leather, experience, and capture progress from the same route. Use Surfent at a Ranch when your base can support passive production. Combining all three methods is the fastest way to avoid another shortage.
Keep a reserve before crafting optional gear. The Small Pouch uses Leather, but duplicate pouches do not stack, so read Can You Stack Small Pouches? before making another one.
