How to Get Ancient Technology Points in Palworld
Earn Ancient Technology Points from first-time bosses and repeatable Ancient Technical Manual runs.
Ancient Technology Points unlock the purple recipes in the Technology menu. The fastest early supply comes from first-time Alpha Pal and Tower Boss clears. After those one-time rewards are exhausted, Ancient Technical Manuals become the repeatable way to earn more points.
Ancient points are separate from regular Technology Points. Leveling your character and activating Great Eagle Statues will not increase the Ancient counter, and Ancient Civilization Parts or Cores cannot be converted into points. You need the points to unlock a recipe and the listed materials to craft it.
Best ways to get Ancient Technology Points
Use three methods in this order: clear nearby Alpha Pals for quick first-time points, defeat Tower Bosses for larger milestone rewards, then farm Ancient Technical Manuals from high-value reward chests. This route gives you useful early unlocks without forcing you into difficult late-game chest runs too soon.
Alpha and Tower rewards are tied to the first clear in that world. Repeating the same boss can still provide materials, experience, or other loot, but it does not become an unlimited Ancient Technology Point farm. Manuals are consumable drops, so chest routes remain useful after the map's first-clear rewards are gone.
Defeat new Alpha Pals
Alpha Pals, also called Field Bosses or Area Bosses, are marked on the map with a portrait and level. Your first defeat or capture of a new Alpha normally awards one Ancient Technology Point. Start with bosses at or below your current level and expand outward from the fast-travel statues you already use.
Open the map before starting a route and check which Alpha icons have already been cleared. Group several nearby targets into one trip, repair your equipment, bring enough ammunition and healing supplies, and match your team to each boss's element. A short route through three manageable bosses is usually more efficient than spending the same time on one target far above your level.
Capturing an Alpha is useful when you still need Paldeck capture bonuses or want the boss for breeding and combat. Defeating it is cheaper when your only goal is the point and you do not want to spend high-grade Pal Spheres. Either approach should be treated as a first-clear reward rather than a repeatable point source.
Defeat Tower Bosses
Tower Bosses provide the largest predictable first-clear rewards. A first victory commonly grants five Ancient Technology Points, enough to unlock several early utility recipes at once. Tower fights are timed and cannot be solved by capture, so prepare them as a separate progression milestone instead of adding them to a casual exploration loop.
Build around the boss matchup, take repaired armor and weapons, carry more ammunition than a normal Alpha fight, and bring food and healing items before entering. If you fail because the timer expires, improve damage and Pal synergy before investing heavily in defense. If you are being knocked out early, upgrade armor, shields, and survivability first.
Clear towers when you can defeat them reliably, but do not ignore easy Alphas while traveling between regions. The most efficient progression combines the larger tower payout with nearby one-point Alpha clears, then uses the new unlocks to prepare for the next difficulty tier.
Farm Ancient Technical Manuals
Ancient Technical Manuals grant one Ancient Technology Point when consumed from your character inventory. Unlike boss first-clear rewards, manuals can be found again, making them the long-term answer when you have already cleared most Alpha Pals and towers or want to finish more of the purple technology tree.
High-level dungeon reward rooms are the most practical place to look. Defeat the dungeon boss, open both end chests, collect the loot, and leave through the exit crystal. Higher-value chests in dangerous regions and Wildlife Sanctuaries can also be worth checking while you are nearby, but a repeatable dungeon route is easier to organize around a known start and finish.
Manual drops are not guaranteed on every run. Improve your results by choosing dungeons you can clear quickly, using a fast mount for long corridors, learning the common room layouts, and keeping enough inventory space for chest loot. A slightly easier dungeon completed consistently is better than a high-level route that consumes excessive ammunition and healing items.
Do not farm the wrong Technical Manual
Check the full item name before planning a route or consuming a book. An Ancient Technical Manual adds one point to the purple Ancient Technology counter. High Grade, Innovative, and Future Technical Manuals award regular Technology Points instead, typically one, two, and three points respectively.
Both manual families can appear in valuable chest pools, so finding a purple or rare-looking book does not automatically mean it increases Ancient points. Move the manual into your character inventory, read its description, and use it from the inventory. The book is consumed immediately and the awarded point is permanent.

Follow an efficient progression route
Early game: clear low-level Alpha Pals around your unlocked fast-travel points. Spend the first points on a utility recipe that immediately supports breeding, movement, storage, or production rather than an item you cannot yet craft.
Mid game: challenge the next Tower Boss you can defeat consistently and clear new Alphas while opening more of the map. Use the larger tower reward to remove a current bottleneck, such as egg incubation, Pal strengthening, movement, or automated resource production.
Late game: finish remaining first-clear bosses by region, then switch to repeatable dungeon and high-value chest routes for Ancient Technical Manuals. Mark completed routes mentally or with map markers so you do not waste a session revisiting one-time rewards you already collected.
Choose Ancient unlocks carefully
Prioritize recipes that solve a problem you have now. The Egg Incubator opens breeding and egg hatching, while the Pal Essence Condenser strengthens Pals by combining duplicates. Feed Bags reduce food-management interruptions, Grappling Guns improve movement, and mining or production structures can remove persistent base bottlenecks.
Weapons and specialized launchers can be powerful, but the technology unlock is only the first cost. Inspect the crafting recipe before spending points and confirm that you can obtain its Ancient Civilization materials and other components. Use the Ancient Civilization Parts guide or Ancient Civilization Core guide when the recipe requires those materials.
Avoid unlocking several expensive recipes just because their icons are visible. Banking a few points is reasonable when your next character level will reveal a more useful recipe or when the required crafting materials are still out of reach.
Common mistakes
The most common mistake is repeatedly farming an Alpha or Tower Boss for a reward that only applies to the first clear. Other costly errors include confusing Ancient points with regular Technology Points, leaving a manual in storage and forgetting to consume it, spending points before checking the crafting materials, and attempting a high-level dungeon when several easier first-clear bosses remain.
If the Ancient counter does not increase after a boss fight, first check whether that boss was already cleared in the current world. If a manual did not affect the Ancient counter, inspect the consumed item's name; it may have been a regular Technical Manual.
Ancient Technology Points FAQ
Can bosses be farmed repeatedly for points? No. Repeat clears may still reward normal boss loot, but Ancient Technology Points are tied to the first eligible clear. Move to an uncleared boss or farm manuals instead.
Does capturing an Alpha Pal count? A first capture can complete the Alpha encounter and award its first-clear reward. Capturing is useful for Paldeck and breeding progress, while defeating is usually cheaper.
Where can I see my Ancient Technology Points? Open the Technology menu and check the Ancient point counter beside the purple technology section. It is tracked separately from the regular Technology Point total.
